Hailing from the high desert of New Mexico, Poppy Dames has been writing music for herself since
she was ten years old. In high school she began sharing and playing that music with friends and
family, her voice quickly becoming a staple of open mics and community events in her small,
sleepy town.
At seventeen, she left home, heading overseas to Berlin, taking with her not much
more than her mother’s guitar, and a fiery ambition to make something of herself. After a year of
making her way through the city’s singer-songwriter scene, she found herself in want of a change,
tired of bar stools and acoustic guitars.
In 2018 she co-founded the genre-hopping musical
collective stockdale, with close friends and collaborators johdi, D’fish and Nomé. Dames herself
adopted the moniker pilgrim. In the years that followed, stockdale would become a testing ground
for Dames to discover her voice as an artist, and refine her skills as not only a songwriter, but
also as a producer. The years that followed saw Dames and her cohorts playing to crowds across
the German festival circuit, and even taking a trip stateside for a series of DIY performances,
ending with an explosive sold-out show in her hometown of Silver City, New Mexico.
In 2024, looking to further develop her producer side, she joined the Female Producer Collective, a group
of like-minded individuals looking to create opportunities for women in the male-dominated spaces
of music production and engineering. She currently resides in Berlin, and is preparing to release
her debut full-length album: TITANS.
